Privacy Policy
Summary
Compass: True North is a privacy-first, offline compass. It does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. It contains no ads, no analytics, and no third-party tracking.
Information the app accesses
The app uses the following device capabilities entirely on your device. None of this information is sent to Su Labs or any third party, and none of it is stored after the app is closed:
- Location (GPS): Used only to display your current coordinates and altitude on screen, and to calculate the difference between magnetic north and true north (magnetic declination) for your position. Your location is processed in real time on your device and is never uploaded, saved, or shared.
- Device sensors (magnetometer, accelerometer): Used to determine compass heading and device tilt. Sensor data never leaves your device.
Information we collect
None. We do not collect, log, or transmit any personal or device data. The app has no account system, no servers, and no network communication for the purpose of data collection.
Local storage
Your in-app preferences — such as haptics, units, and reference settings — are stored locally on your device only, using the device's standard preference storage. They are never transmitted off the device and are removed when you uninstall the app.
Third-party services
The app does not integrate any advertising networks, analytics services, or other third-party data-collection SDKs. There are no trackers of any kind.
Permissions
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION — used only for the on-device features described above (coordinates, altitude, magnetic declination). You may revoke this permission at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Compass → Permissions; the compass will continue to function showing magnetic heading only (without true-north correction).
- VIBRATE — used for optional haptic feedback. No data is collected.
Children's privacy
The app does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. Because no data is collected at all, there is no special handling required.
Data retention
Because no data is transmitted to or stored by Su Labs, there is nothing to retain or delete on our end. On-device preferences are retained until you uninstall the app or clear its data.
Security
Because Compass: True North does not transmit any data off-device, the risk of a server breach of your personal information is zero — there is no server. Your GPS and sensor readings exist only in your device's memory while the app is running.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the EU GDPR (where applicable), you have rights over personal data held about you. Since Su Labs holds no personal data from this app, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete on our end. If you have questions or concerns, contact us at su.labs@outlook.com.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after the new date constitutes acceptance.
